Replacing firearm barrels?
How would a guy go about replacing the barrels in an AR15 and Glock 23C so the gubbermint can't trace the rounds back to the firearm's owner?

Now firing pin marks on the spent primer is another matter...especially if you live in Kalifornia where micro-stamping is coming on line. Changing barrels is very simple for the Glock...just buy a factory replacement. ARs barrels are not to hard to replace either. Now why do you want to know all this exactly? |
Re: Replacing firearm barrels?
I ask namely as a plan for the worst of the worst case scenarios where TSHTF+martial law thugs get crazy and I do decide to fight back. Yeah, one in a billion odds, but I'm not comfortable with the government knowing what firearms are owned by whom. So the factory replacement will be off the radar? Is the rifling of the barrel primarily what's used? (Besides your California example)

Re: Replacing firearm barrels?
Matching a bullet to the rifling is pretty much Hollywood fantasy. At best you could determine caliber, and possibly manufacturer. Matching a fired shell casing to a firearms boltface is reasonably easy however.
